Why a separate Malta event
SBC runs Summit Malta as the regional companion to Summit Lisbon — same SBC Events organisation, deliberately smaller scale, deliberately MGA-focused programming. The format makes sense for two reasons: 1) the gap between ICE (January) and SBC Lisbon (late September) is eight months, too long for the Maltese operator scene to wait, and 2) the regulator interaction with MGA is best done in person on the island.
The event runs three days at the InterContinental Malta in St. Julian’s, the central iGaming neighbourhood. Roughly 5,000 attendees — small by SBC Lisbon standards (30,000) but the highest concentration of MGA-licensed commercial directors in any one place.
Programme tracks
- MGA enforcement priorities and supervisory review framework
- Affiliate marketing under Italian, Spanish, Portuguese DGOJ/SRIJ contexts
- Crypto operators in EU regulated tier (Curaçao operators crossing into MGA tier)
- Payments under PSD2/PSD3 and the European Payment Initiative
- Compliance and AML for Maltese operators
Who shows up
MGA-licensed operators (the second tier — not all attend SBC Lisbon), Maltese commercial directors of larger groups (Entain Malta, Kindred Malta operations), specialist platform providers headquartered in Malta, and MGA representatives doing public-facing supervisory communication.
Access and cost
Conference pass €695+. VIP networking €2,995+. No free expo pass (smaller format than SBC Lisbon).
VegasHunter coverage angle
We watch SBC Malta primarily for MGA regulatory signals — affordability framework changes, advertising restriction updates, AML supervisory priorities. Maltese operators feature in our en-ie (Ireland uses MGA licensing by default) and across our European locale rankings.
Why this matters
Maltese-licensed operators rarely have an in-person window between ICE in January and SBC Lisbon in September. SBC Malta fills that gap with a regulator-heavy programme and a small-format venue where MGA-side commercial dealmaking happens.
